Howe Lions Club celebrates 70 years

The Howe Lions Club met at the LaGrange American Legion on June 7 for the club’s 70th anniversary celebration.

Jim Kelly, Shane Reidinger and Alice Watson were on the committee.

Past International Director David Fiandt of Ft. Wayne was the keynote speaker.  Fifty-five people attended the gala event with U.S. Senator Marlin Stutzman and State Senator Sue Glick in attendance.

The big event of the evening was when Glenn Cox of the Howe Club received a Melvin Jones award from Lions International.  Melvin Jones of Chicago, Ill., was the founder of Lions International and this is the highest award a Lion can receive. Many other awards were given that night along with Jim Parker of the Howe Club receiving a 50-year service award.
