Howe business owner arrested on meth charge

The LaGrange Police Department reported that John Burns, 57, of Howe was arrested last week after residents reported a garbage truck being driven erratically.

According to reports, Town Marshal Rich Snyder responded to the area of Canal and Wayne streets and stopped the garbage truck after seeing a traffic violation.

Snyder reportedly suspected that the driver, Burns, was under the influence of medication or narcotics and took Burns to Parkview LaGrange Hospital for a blood test.

The test came back positive for methamphetamine. Reports noted that police also found meth on Burns’ person.

Burns was booked into the LaGrange County Jail on Sept. 19 for preliminary charges of OWI-Controlled Substance, and Possession of Methamphetamine.

Burns is the owner of Clean Earth Services.
