Home detention ordered for illegal midwifery

Delores J. Stanley of Albion, Ind., was sentenced to nearly a year of home detention recently.

Stanley was arrested in 2012 on charges of unlawfully practicing medicine and illegally practicing midwifery.

Last February, Stanley pleaded guilty to one count of illegally practicing midwifery, a Class D felony, with all other charges dropped.

LaGrange County Superior Court Judge George Brown sentenced Stanley to three years with fines and court costs, and suspended all but 330 days of the sentence, which were to be served under home detention.

Stanley will also be placed on probation for two years.
