County commissioners received bids at their Monday meeting for county highway supplies and services for 2013. Commissioners took all of the bids and quotes under advisement and directed Highway Superintendent Jeff Brill to prepare a spreadsheet to compare the different items.
Brill will present his recommendations to commissioners at their Nov. 19 meeting.
Paint striping will be rebid.
Asphalt Materials submitted the only bid for liquid cut back asphalt.
Emulsified asphalt bids were received from Bit Mat Products and Pierceton Equipment Co. Inc.
Quotes for Bituminous Patching Material came from API Construction Corp., Brooks Construction Co., Inc., Niblock Excavating, Phend and Brown Inc., and Pulver and Sons Asphalt Materials, Inc.
Limestone quotes were received from Hanson Aggregates, Imi/Irvings Materials, Inc. and Stone Street Quarries, Inc.
Sand and gravel quotes were received from Elkhart County Gravel, Inc., Irving Gravel Company, Inc., Niblock Excavating, and R. Smith and Sons Inc.
Pipe culvert quotes came from CPI Supply, Drew Corporation, Hixson Sand and Gravel, Metal Culverts, and St. Regis Culverts, Inc.
Great Lakes Chloride Inc. submitted the only bid for calcium chloride.
Quotes for hourly equipment rental were received from Brooks Construction Co., Inc., Irving Gravel Co., Inc., and Young Family Farms.
AmericanTimber Bridgesubmitted the only bid for treated bridge timbers.
Commissioners also decided to take fuel bids for 2013 at a special meeting to be held Dec. 12. Both the county highway and sheriff’s department will be using fuel from the bid.
