Hargis Lovelace

    Hargis E. “Gene” Lovelace, 85, Howe, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Life Care Center of LaGrange.

    He was born August 6, 1929, in Perry County, Ky., to William and Stella (Hager) Lovelace.

    Moving from Fairborn, Ohio, to Howe in 1963, he worked as a coal miner and in foundries.  He retired from the Indiana Toll Road and owned and operated Lovelace Standard Gas Station for many years. He was a member of the Howe Lions Club and a former member of the Howe Volunteer Fire Department.

    He was married June 8, 1948, in Hazard, Ky., to Mary E. Breeding. She survives.

    Also surviving is one daughter and son-in-law, Stella J.and Michael Lagowski, Scott, Mich.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Hargis E. Jr. and Connie Lovelace, Howe, and Vaughn and Susie Lovelace, Howe; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Anita Conway, West Union, Ohio; and one brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Helen Lovelace, Zenia, Ohio.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Glenn Lovelace, two sisters, Stella J. Rice and Maxine Fields, and two brothers, William Lovelace Jr. and Mack Lovelace.

    Funeral service will be ??? on ??? at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange with  Reverend ??? officiating.

    Burial will be in Brighton Cemetery, rural Howe.
