LaGrange County Habitat for Humanity is committed to partnering with families. This long-term commitment is about more than repaying home loans. Partner families from as long ago as 1999 gathered at Delt Church Park on August 24 for the annual picnic.
Lunch and learn was on the agenda with a potluck lunch as the first activity.
Debbie Pontecorvo and Ann Fremion from the Purdue Extension Service were on hand to discuss the chemistry of exercise and how to read nutrition labels. Firefighters from Johnson Township explained fire safety procedures and then distributed a new fire extinguisher to each family.
Finally, Fremion and Family Support Committee member Laura Hartman led the children in relays and other active games using household items and toys like hula hoops, stick horses and swimming noodles.
