Habitat helps replace roof

Hidden behind the former granary on SR 120 east of Howe, Tony and Maria Brown’s home sports a new roof thanks to the volunteers from LaGrange County Habitat for Humanity’s (LCHFH) “A Brush with Kindness Project.”

The recent project, completed last week, was the third one for LCHFH in 2014.  “We have lived in LaGrange County most of our lives, moving to this location in 2000,” Maria reported. “Our daughter heard about LCHFH and looked up the organization on the website for us.”

The Browns were impressed with the job that the volunteers did, and they were happy to pitch in and do their part. Maria prepared meals for the volunteers and helped to load the dumpster with debris, and her son helped as well. Tony suffers from bad knees and unable to do physical labor.

“We were able to choose the color we preferred, and we love how the new roof looks,” Maria added.
