Gunthorp wins FFA award


Kara Gunthorp 18, of rural LaGrange won the Agricultural Processing Proficiency award at state level. Gunthorp competed against 50 people for this award and was named in the top 4 that will be going to nationals on October 24-26 in Indianapolis. She worked at Brushy Prairie Packing, a processing plant, in order to receive this award. As a requirement contestants had to fill out a proficiency form about their hours and skills they worked for a proficiency plant. Indiana Stye FFA presented Kara with the award of $250 for winning State and $500 for being a national finalist. Kara will receive another $500 by the National FFA if she wins nationals. When asked what she thought about her achievement she replied “It’s really an honor to know that I’m top 4 in the country and I’m extremely excited about Nationals.”
