Goshen softballers down Westview

Goshen scored six runs in the fourth inning and four in the sixth en route to an 11-3 varsity softball victory over visiting Westview last week.

Tied at 2-all going into the fourth frame, the Lady Redskins got RBI hits from Brooke Miller, Lacee Mulcahey and Kaylee Shepherd to break the game open. Westview got one of the runs back on a run-scoring single by Hannah Witham in the fifth, but a couple of bases-loaded walks and a two-run single by Morgan Vanover in the sixth padded the Goshen lead back up to eight.

Vanover was the winning pitcher for Goshen, fanning three and walking five in seven innings. Taking the loss for the Lady Warriors was Sam Pfenning.

Witham finished with two hits, while Pfanning, Rachel Johns, Olivia Miller and Sidney Byrkett all had one. Miller’s single in the fourth scored the first two Westview runs.
