Goshen drubs Lakeland girls in basketball opener

 

Goshenspoiled the debut of Lakeland girls basketball head coach Sheila Moore Tuesday night in LaGrange by whipping the mistake-prone Lady Lakers, 76-19.

Led by Aimee Swihart’s 30-point explosion, the visiting Lady Redskins raced to a 25-4 advantage after one period and never looked back. Swihart, a 5-7 senior, canned eight field goals and swished 13-17 free throw tries.

Lakelandcommitted a whopping 42 turnovers in the contest, half of which were Goshen steals. Swihart collected seven swipes and Deja Felder, who finished with 17 points, netted five thefts.

Abi Thompson paced the Lakeland scoring attack with 11 points, four rebounds and two steals. Rebecca Levitz registered four rebounds and three steals. Morgan Meyers grabbed three boards.
