Goshen boys soccer downs Westview


Goshen downed Westview, 4-1 in varsity boys soccer action Tuesday evening in the Maple City.

The Redskins took a 1-0 lead on the first of two goals on the night for Emmanuel Ortiz. The Warriors quickly tied the match at 1-all on a goal by Bucky Carpenter. Braden Avery earned an assist on the play.

Just before halftime, Jesus Dominguez found the back of the net for Goshen, giving the hosts a 2-1 edge. J.T. Plavchak extended the Redskin lead to 3-1 in the second half when he booted home a rebound off a free kick by teammate Jonathan Martinez.

Ortiz then capped the scoring late in the second half when he connected on a penalty kick.

Westview goalie Tarrin Beachy was credited with four saves.

The setback left the Warriors 1-1-1 on the season.

Goshen won the junior varsity match over Westview, 5-0. Warrior keeper Hunter Whitney made five saves.
