Gordon Kindig, 74, Indio, Calif., formerly of LaPorte, Ind., died January 12, 2013 at Eisenhower Medical Center in Palm Desert, Calif.
He was born February 2, 1938 to Emery and Alta (Arndt) Kindig.
He was the golf pro at Beechwood Golf Course in LaPorte, Ind., for over 20 years until he purchased Cedar Lake Golf Course in Howe. In 1956, he earned the Northern Indiana Conference MVP for football and was also offered a contract with the Dallas Cowboys.
Surviving are his first wife, Helen Kindig; his second wife, Virginia Kindig; one daughter, Jayne (Rick) Grillo; one stepdaughter; one grandson, Joel (Ashley) Shannon; two step-grandsons; three brothers and four sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
A celebration of life was held January 15 at Indian Palms Country Club in Indio, Calif.
