Joy Sustaita and Rebecca Levitz each scored a pair of goals in leading the Lakeland varsity girls soccer team to a 7-4 triumph over Central Noble this past Monday in LaGrange.
Levitz also garnered two assists in the match, the first on Sustaita’s initial tally and the second on a goal by Elexus Holmes in the second half that put the Lady Lakers up 5-2.
Jennifer Garcia and Christin Hoover accounted for the other two Lakeland markers.
Tiffany Simcox booted in a couple of goals and assisted on one other for Central Noble. Holly Rawles and Becca Henderson had one goal apiece, while Brook Smith collected two assists.
Lakeland keeper Jessica Hoover was credited with three saves. Lady Cougar netminders Renee Zeigler and Kayla Dull combined to stop 21 Lady Laker shots.
“It was a completely different team than I had Saturday morning,” commented Lakeland coach Megan Hamilton, referring to her club’s 10-1 loss last weekend to Mishawaka. “I’m glad they were able to play their game the way I know they can. This is a big win for us, the first of the season.”
Lakeland stands 1-2-1.
