The Geology-Botany Connection at Maple Wood

Indiana Native Plant and Wildflower Society (INPAWS) is hosting their north chapter membership meeting at Maple Wood Nature Center. Guest speaker is Tony Fleming, a professional geologist, whose specialty is the geology-botany connection.

Next to regional climate, geology is an important influence on the distribution of natural communities within the local landscape. Numerous geologically induced variables affect the distributions of specific plants and the compositions of their occuring communities.

Fleming highlights major geologic features and processes responsible for distribution of plants and plant communities in northern Indiana.

This INPAWS presentation is open to the public. “The Geology-Botany Connection” is at Maple Wood Nature Center on Sunday, February 16, 2 p.m.

Maple Wood Nature Center is 4.5 miles east and 1 mile south of LaGrange, 4550E 100S. For more information contact Maple Wood Nature Center at (260) 463 4022 or lagrangecountyparks@yahoo.com
