Gene E. Stout, 79, Middlebury, died Friday, March 1, 2013 at Elkhart Hospice House.
He was born September 25, 1933 to Carroll and Lucille (Forsythe) Stout.
He was a Korean War veteran, earning the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He worked at Coachman Industries for over 30 years, serving as executive vice president before retiring in 2001. He was involved with the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) for over 30 years, holding several offices, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Middlebury, where he served on several committees.
He was married November 20, 1955 to Dorothy Hocking. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2006.
Surviving are five daughters, Dianne (Lynn) Kliewer, Bristol, Deneen Stout, Fishers, Ind., Dolores (Dick) Schoen, Middlebury, Darla (Ken) Bechlem, Topeka, and Dee (Jimmy) Koontz, Middlebury; five sons, Donald Stout, Middlebury, David (Laura) Stout, Middlebury, Dale Stout, Goshen, Duane (Jennifer) Stout, Kenosha, Wisc., and Dean (Rhonda) Stout, Elkhart; and one sister, Donna Stout, Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Debra Stout, and one son, Dennis Stout.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 4, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home in Middlebury and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, at First United Methodist Church in Middlebury. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, at First United Methodist Church in Middlebury with Pastor Steve Ellis officiating.
Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.
