Garrett racked up eight runs in the third inning and cruised to a 14-6 victory over Lakeland in varsity softball play Monday night in LaGrange.
Leading 3-0 entering their half of the third, the Lady Railroaders tallied each of their eight runs during the frame after two were out. The big blow was a three-run homer off the bat of Ashley Morris, one of three hits for the Garrett standout.
Also clubbing three hits for the Lady Railroaders were Amber Poling and Kayla Morrow. One of Poling’s clouts was a solo home run.
Ashlynn Grubb, Jill Mingus and Ashton Miller all collected two hits for the Lady Lakers, who dropped to 4-2 with the setback. Kristen Weise socked a home run in a losing cause.
