The Friends of LaGrange County Parks held their first annual meeting on April 14 at Pine Knob County Park.
At the meeting, the group elected its first board – Dr. Lynn Bowen, Trenia Bowen, Elma Chapman, Kathy Hopper, Matt Rang, Gloria Sherwood, and Guy Thompson.
Following the meeting, those present were given the opportunity to take a hike through Pine Knob Park with LaGrange County Naturalist Scott Beam, who pointed out the diversity in the park and talked about future plans, which include planting trees in an oak savannah restoration area with trees purchased through an REMC grant awarded to the Friends of LaGrange County Parks.
Area archer Doug Hill demonstrated his skills and talked about the unique opportunity Pine Knob Park provides to archers from around the region with its archery range and 3D archery course.
Martine Franke of the LaGrange County Soil and Water Conservation District provided kits to build birdhouses.
