Fremont nudged Westview, 8-6 in NECC baseball action Saturday in Emma.
The Eagles broke up a 5-5 deadlock in the top of the sixth on a two-run homer by Glen McClain. Andrew Smith, who singled to start the frame, also scored on McClain’s blast.
Later in the inning, Matt Hoff walked, advanced to second on a passed ball, stole third and scored on a Warrior error to give Fremont a three-run cushion.
Westview tallied a run in the bottom of the seventh when Jamar Weaver, who led off the frame with a double, scored as part of a double-steal with Jamin Lambright. Hoff then bore down to retire the final two Warrior batters to net the save.
In addition to his go-ahead homer, McClain doubled home a pair of teammates in a five-run Eagle first inning. Mitch Van Zuilen and Alex Beams each plated a run with a single and a sacrifice fly, respectively.
Judah Zickafoose got Westview on the board in the third with a solo home run. The Warriors scored four times in the fourth with two of the markers coming home on a double by Weaver.
Tanner Wall, who relieved Eagle starter Beams in the fourth inning, picked up the pitching victory. Weaver worked the first five innings for Westview with Mike Hicks tossing the final two
