Free computer classes offered at county library branches

Some important – and free – computer classes are coming up at all branches of the LaGrange County Public Library in September.

Internet Basics will be taught at both the Topeka and Shipshewana branches. This class is for beginning users and teaches the highlights of navigating the worldwide web. A minimum of three participants is required for either class.

It will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, at the Topeka Branch Library. Registration is required by stopping in the Topeka Library or by calling 260-593-3030.

The Internet Basics class will also be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Shipshewana Branch Library. Registration is required by stopping at the library branch in Shipshewana or by calling 260-768-7444.

Computer users who are ready to move to the newest Microsoft's newest operating system will benefit from the Windows 8 Basics class from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the LaGrange County Public Library. The instructor is Mike Bodenhafer of PMC Computers and Surveillance. Participants with a portable Windows 8 device such as a laptop, tablet, or smartphone are encouraged to bring it with them. A $10 deposit is required to reserve a place in this class. The deposit will be refunded to each participant who attends the class.

Registration for this class is required at the LaGrange County Public Library’s Adult Services Desk. A minimum of seven participants is required for this class.
