Four legs, a lick and a wag

Dear Friends,

My town mom’s friend knows this lab named Oscar. Oscar lives on a farm with his family and a little girl who is one and a half named Julie. Now, I know how great labs are but want to share about Oscar.

Julie likes to play on her front porch while her mom is outside and the porch has two entry ways. Oscar blocks the steps when Julie gets near them so she can’t leave the porch. He simply lies down and then Julie backs away and goes towards the other steps. You know how little girls are, but Oscar is one step in front of her. You guessed it; he beats her there and blocks those too. Simply said, “we are great when given the chance.” Thanks Oscar for watching over Julie!

I am staying all week with Gertie and Lucy. All week! My lake mom packed my jammies, food, leash and kissed me so long for a whole week. That means a walk in the morning, a run in the woods in the afternoon and a walk in the evening. Can’t get much better than this!

I heard my town mom say sleeping in is a unique experience. I don’t quite understand that because I am sleeping just fine. I am helping in the yard with the leaves and sticks she piles up, and I am enjoying the sun shine.

I told you all spring would come eventually. I love being outside and chasing the bunnies. I don’t hurt them; I just like to chase them. Actually, I am a little embarrassed, I can’t really catch them, because they dart here and there and then there and here. But I keep trying.

My town mom was listening to the Today Show this week and heard a story about a kangaroo named Boomeroo. It is kind of a neat story. These people live in Virginia and the mom writes children’s books. She likes to write about conservation and preservation (those are pretty big words for me) and you guessed it Boomeroo has his own book.

They got Boomeroo when he was 3 weeks old and he stayed in their house until he got too big. He has his own house now that is specially controlled to keep him warm. It is near a garden that he can enjoy. His closet is full of special shirts and I could tell by watching my town mom watch the story that Boomeroo is well taken care of. She went ahhhh when his mom gave him a hug. He is a little like me because he gets to go to schools and other places to talk to kids about animals. He lives with Larry the cat, his friends a possum and an ant eater. I would like to meet Boomeroo, maybe even ride in his special pouch I think I will send him one of the Buddy’s books.

Tip of the week: Remember with spring finally here it is very important to get flea and tick medicine for all your four footed friends. Don’t wait, do it today.

Quote of the week: “Dogs feel very strongly that they should always go with you in the car, in case the need should arise for them to bark violently at nothing right in your ear.” – Dave Barry

See you next week! Your fur-ever friend,

Buddy
