Buddy August 24 “In Trouble, Again.”
First of all let me be honest and tell you I was in a heap of trouble this week. First of all, I jumped out of the car and ran across the street to greet my neighbor and her kids and you guessed it - a car was coming. I am so very thankful the car not only stopped but when I said thanks to the driver her reply was “I have two dogs and I know how important they are.” Whew! The second situation I was with my mom walking and I slipped out of my collar, it was dark and my brother was with me. It was hard for my mom to chase me and keep my brother in line as well. Again, a driver stopped and waited. THANK YOU to those drivers who know sometimes we do unpredictable things and try as hard as we do to be good sometimes we just are not. Wags, wiggles and licks to those who look out for us!!
The Buddy contest is drawing to a conclusion. If you plan on drawing a picture and submitting it to the Paws and Claws bookstore you need to get your tail wagging and get it done. The last day for the contest is September 4. Remember, the winner receives a signed autographed picture of me, a picture taken with me for the paper, a free dinner at the annual ARK animal dinner September 18 at the 4-H fair grounds and some other goodies. So, get those markers and crayons out, it’s not too late!
There are still tickets available for the auction and those can be picked up at the Paws and Claws bookstore. I heard they have a car and a golf cart plus lots of other goodies to be auctioned off! I can just see me riding in the car with my ears flapping and the golf cart, wow would that be fun. Tickets are limited for the meal that the Blue Gate is catering, but not for the auction. Remember this is the time when we help all my friends get the necessary medical attention they need for adoption throughout the year. Please come I would love to meet each and every one of you. The doors open at 5:00 dinner begins at 5:30 and the live auction begins at 7:00.
I spoke with Brian at the Sanctuary and he said he is looking for a new washer to keep all the towels and blankets clean and safe for my friends. The old one is just about ready to quit and we want to make sure with cooler weather coming in we have a way to keep my friends warm and snuggly. Do you have one you could donate or do you know someone who does?
The Paws and Claws bookstore is also looking for a new copier. With all the new activity at the bookstore the copier has just about copied its last page. If you know someone who has one or can find one at a good price please contact the bookstore.
I was sitting in the backyard the other day enjoying the warm sun, watching the butterflies and humming birds and thinking of some other contests we could have fun with. Be looking in the near future for some other opportunities to get involved and have some fun!
The ARK sanctuary and the Paws and Claws bookstore can use you as a volunteer. Please contact them and see what is available with your schedule. You will meet some great people and some even greater four footed friends. They are waiting for you.
