Four legs, a lick and a wag

Dear friends,

Wow, what a week! My lake mom had her brother and her niece here for the week. I thought I had energy. Nope! Kathryn has much, much more. We did so many neat things. We went on the boat and we both wore our lifejackets. We swam together, floated on some blue things, paddled a kayak and had some sleepovers. That was fun. The bed was a little crowded but I survived. Not sure I could sleep like this every night, but once in a while it’s fun. We chased frisbees in the yard and I practiced my sit and stay some, and enjoyed the week spending time with my lake mom and the rest of my family.

Saturday was the big book signing at My Father's Business. My town mom told me about it but there was no way I was prepared for what happened. I had a really good time meeting so many people, but I didn’t quite understand what it was all about so my town mom explained it to me.

Kids and some big people wrote stories about their pets and then we got them published into a book that is for sale to help all my friends at the sanctuary. I am up for that! Helping my friends at the sanctuary! The book is even named after me! Wow! If you have not purchased a book, you can still get one and help them, too. If you want I will even sign it.

I met Cinder and it was almost like looking at me. He is a little bigger, but we had a lot of fun in the store and yes, he is a rescue dog too so we had lots to share. Don’t tell anyone but that was the most fun for me, playing with Cinder. You might want to check out the website at and see our picture.

Everyone who came in got a free stuffed dog and some treats as well. I ate some, gave some to Cinder and my senior citizen friend Madison. We all think they were very good. Maybe sometime I should put the recipe on the Ark website.

Remember, you can write a story and send it to the Paws and Claws bookstore in Howe and I will share with my readers. I heard many people share stories Saturday and would sure like to hear from you. There are some really good ones out there.

Thank you to all of you who came to the store in support of the Ark Animal Sanctuary and all the dogs and cats there. If you bought a book, T-shirt or just donated, you have many wiggles and wags in your favor. I want to personally thank my town mom’s friends who made the day special.

Wiggles and wags to Judy, Marie, Linda and Judy. I heard my mom say it would not have been as nice without your help.

Our next big adventure is the annual Ark Animal Dinner/Auction Sept. 17 at the 4-H Fairgrounds. You can get tickets from any board member, at the bookstore or the sanctuary. Tickets are limited so you might want to think about getting yours early. The Blue Gate is catering.

I don’t know how a gate can cater; in fact I don’t even know what a cater is. I guess I will have to take the word of my mom that it will be good.

                 Your friend, Buddy
