Four legs, a lick and a wag

Dear friends,

Well, I have heard of birds flying, planes flying, even pigs flying but I have never heard of books flying. My mom says the Buddy books are flying off the shelves. I am hoping this is good and that they are not hurting any-one as they are flying around.

They can be purchased at Ark Animal Sanctuary, My Father’s Business, Serenity Nails, Our Place Café and of course the Paws and Claws Bookstore in Howe. Be careful when you go so you don’t get hit in the head from a flying book.

Sunday, July 28 is the annual Pooches Paddle at the Mongo River Run. Canoes launch at 3 p.m. with a two- to three-hour ride down the river. Lemonade, hot dogs (the eating kind) and chips will await participants upon their return. One hundred percent of the $25 cost will go to the Ark Animal Sanctuary. Pooches are welcome, but not required.

A special open house is scheduled for all my friends at the sanctuary this Saturday from 1-3 p.m. This will be a time when you can take a look at what happens at the sanctuary as well as hopefully find your new forever friend to take home and love. It is my understanding there will be some very special deals with some very special pals of mine.

Wiggles and Wags to the Howe 4-H Club members. They had an awesome doghouse at the 4-H Fair this year. It even had my name on it! I thought that was really cool. And worth even more wiggles and wags is they ended up donating over 400 cans of food for dogs and cats to the Ark Animal Food Pantry at the Paws and Claws Bookstore!

How do I know the number of cans? Glad you asked. I helped box them up along with my mom and Susan. Thanks Susan for helping my mom. Golly gee, just think… how many of my friends are going to be thankful? Lots!

Please remember as the summer heat is in full swing now to make sure your forever friends have fresh water every day and that it is placed in a shady location if possible. Keep a watchful eye on them always but especially the senior citizen pet. They have special needs and we sure don’t want something to happen to them that could have been prevented.

I am still looking for stories to share with people. If you have a pet I am sure you have a story. They can be sent to Paws and Claws, PO Box 95, Howe, IN 46746.

I heard of a story this weekend about a parrot. It was a neat story, too. I sure hope Ginko’s mom will share it. It is not hard; just pretend your pet is telling the story!!

Have a great week, I heard there is a new book on the shelves…maybe you will want to curl up with some lemonade or iced tea and enjoy some stories! See you next week.

                 Your friend, Buddy
