The economic development organizations in DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble, and Steuben counties will co-host the fifth annual “Economic Development Forum” on September 20, 2012. The forum will run from 9am–2pm at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum located at 1600 South Wayne Street, Auburn, IN 46706. This year’s topic, “New Players – New Perspectives” will inform government, civic, and industrial leaders of the opportunities and challenges facing economic development partners in the region. Particular focus will be given to new industrial attraction and the retention and expansion of existing business in the region.
John Sampson, President and CEO of the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership said, “The previous economic development forums have been very well received. The success of the series shows the commitment of these partner organizations toward educating the broader region on matters that impact economic development on the local level.” The event is free of charge and includes lunch with an added bonus for attendees to tour the museum. This year’s event will feature keynote speaker Donald Paslowski, Senior Location Consultant of Austin Consulting, a leader in location identification for manufacturing, distribution centers, and office operations. Some of Mr. Paslowski’s past clients include American Almond, Amy’s Kitchen, Avon Products, Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems, and Sierra Nevada Brewing. Featured speakers for the program include Mr. Robert Clark of Elevate Ventures, Mr. Jon Gerni of the Regional Chamber of Northeast Indiana, and Mr. John Sampson of the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership. The afternoon session will showcase a panel of local industry representatives who will relate their experiences and suggestions on doing business in northeast Indiana. Featured panelist include: Mr. Jon Jensen, President and CEO of Group Dekko, Mr. Mike Sutter, CEO of Michiana Laminated Products, Mr. Robert Jacoby, President and Mr. Doug Jackson, General Manager of Autoform Tool and Manufacturing, and Mr. Mike Hughes, Plant Manager at Kraft.
The program will be emceed and moderated by Richard Heupel, Director of Ball State University’s Building Better Communities program.
