On March 31, deputies from the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department were assisted by the Indiana State Police and Indiana Conservation officers during investigation of alleged drug activity.
According to the police report, officers arrived at a residence on CR 600E and made contact with the homeowner, Candice Benson, 48, as well as Kerri Benson, 25, Stephanie Gibson, 27, and Laef Lewis, 32.
During the course of the investigation, after being given consent from the homeowner, officers allegedly located several items associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine, as well as paraphernalia associated with the consumption of controlled substances.
The subjects were detained on preliminary charges while an application for a search warrant was made and granted by LaGrange County Superior Court.
Officers continued the search of the residence and located multiple chemicals associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine in the home and garage. Also in the home, officers located a large quantity of a substance believed to be methamphetamine. The Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab Team was contact to process the scene for dangerous chemicals.
Candice Benson was arrested for Maintaining a Common Nuisance, a Class D felony. Kerri Benson was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine and Maintaining a Common Nuisance, both Class D felonies. Stephanie Gibson and Laef Lewis were arrested for Visiting a Common Nuisance, a Class A misdemeanor.
Additional charges are pending review by LaGrange County Prosecutor’s Office.
