Food for Fines to benefit Clothes and Food Basket

Patrons of the LaGrange County Public Library can make an important donation and get rid of their fines at the same time.

The Food for Fines program runs now through November 20 during business hours. For each item donated, the library will forgive $1 in fines.

Patrons may bring non-perishable food items to the library, which will be donated to the Clothes and Food Basket of LaGrange County, Inc. The library will not accept any food items past their expiration date, items in glass containers, items separate from multi-packs, sample sized items or single serve items. Suggested donations include canned soups and crackers, canned meats and tuna, peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, toothpaste, toothbrushes, kids’ socks, hats and gloves.

This program applies only at the LaGrange County Public Library and its branches and will only reduce fines owed to the LaGrange County Public Library. Donations for the Food for Fines program cannot be applied toward charges for lost or damaged items
