Floyd Maxwell Dean VanWagner, 84, of Howe, IN passed away Friday, June 22, 2012 at his home near Wall Lake, Brighton, IN.
He was born on October 3, 1927 in LaGrange, IN to Otis L. & Violet (Christleib) VanWagner.
Floyd attended LaGrange High School 12 years and graduated in 1945. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict in the 1950’s and received the Japan Occupation Medal and the Korea Service Medal. Upon returning home he accepted a position with Nipsco and retired after 35 years. Floyd was a simple honest man that enjoyed his woods, farming his land and catching the big ones on his beloved LaGrange County Lakes. He was a veracious reader and conversationalist. Floyd was always a debater. His country club was his country home and his family.
He is survived by Janice (Cellars) VanWagner, Gregory & (Patty) VanWagner of Washington State, Holly & (Brian) Collins of Wyoming, Dana & (Donna) VanWagner of Colorado, Jon VanWagner of Howe, IN, Todd VanWagner of Anderson, IN, brother Bruce & (Betty Lou) VanWagner, sister Evelyn Ringler, grandchildren; Miranda & (Andy) Pagels, Vanessa VanWagner, Bill VanWagner, Hannah VanWagner, Patrick Collins and Amanda Collins, 3 great-grandchildren; Gracie Kay Pagels, Drayk Lampe and Macie Lampe, and a special nephew, Randy VanWagner.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother-in-law, Donald G. Ringler.
According to his wishes cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
