Floyd D. Heltzel, 94, Rome City, died Monday, August 11, 2014, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.
He was born July 22, 1920, in Bremen to Seymour and Myrtle (Sparrow) Heltzel.
He retired in 1985 after 40 years with the Kendallville Foundry. Prior to that, he worked for five years with the railroad. He was a 45-year member of the Orange Township Fire Department and a member of Westin Street Bible Church in Rome City.
He was married March 27, 1943, in Wolcottville, to Vivian Fockler. She preceded him in death on February 16, 2014.
Surviving are two daughters, Myrtle Kline, Kimmell, Ind., and Marjorie "Margie" (Steve) Herendeen, Rome City; a daughter-in-law. JoAnn Heltzel, Rome City; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Doris Heltzel, Bremen, Ind.
He was preceded in death by one son, Floyd L. "Bubby" Heltzel, three grandchildren, Tricia Heltzel, Brenda Niles, and Charles Niles, a great-granddaughter, Sylvia Cole, a great-great-grandson, Ayden Charles, seven brothers and five sisters.
Visitation is 2-7 p.m. Thursday, August 14, at Young Family Funeral Home Wolcottville Chapel with a 7 p.m. service by the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association. Visitation will also be 10-11 a.m. Friday, August 15, at Young Family Funeral Home Wolcottville Chapel.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 15, at Young Family Funeral Home Wolcottville Chapel with Pastor Dan Lash and Pastor Steve Herendeen officiating.
Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.
