Flag retirement ceremony

The Cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 3764, chartered by the LaGrange Rotary Club, would like to invite the citizens of LaGrange, IN to a city wide flag retirement ceremony on Saturday, December 7th at 10:00 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the American Legion post in LaGrange. The United States Flag Code, Chapter 1 Section 8 item K states, “The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.” Therefore, anyone who has a flag that needs to be retired can bring it to the American Legion between now and December 7th. You can also bring your flag in between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on December 7th and the Cub Scouts will fold them for proper retirement. This ceremony is dedicated to those Americans who loved the flag and gave the ultimate sacrifice on December 7th 1941, when the US pacific naval fleet was attacked while docked at Pear Harbor.
