Fiery crash results in minor injuries

Shortly before 3 p.m. on July 31, LaGrange County 911 dispatchers received a call about a two-vehicle traffic accident that occurred at 6765W 300S and the vehicles were on fire.

When emergency personnel arrived, they found the two vehicles blocking the road and all occupants had escaped the burning vehicles.

Kevin Mason, 24, of Three Rivers, Mich., was driving a 2002 International registered to Mecklenburg Farms LLC and entered the roadway, failing to yield to a westbound 2001 Cargo van driven by Aaron Schrock, 20, of LaGrange.

The van struck the International in the driver's side, causing both vehicles to burst into flames.

All occupants of both vehicles escaped with minor injuries.

LaGrange County deputies were assisted at the scene by the Shipshewana Police Department, Topeka and Shipshewana Fire Departments, and Parkview EMS.
