Farmers State Bank holds annual meeting

FS Bancorp (parent company of Farmers State Bank) held its annual meeting Monday night. The bank celebrated a record year for earnings, assets, loans, capital and deposits for the year ending December 31, 2016.

At the meeting, Gordon Anderson, Tom Miller, Rod Perkins, Kerry Sprunger and Joe Urbanski were voted by the shareholders of FS Bancorp to serve as directors for specific terms.

Chairman Roger Bird discussed the steps the company is taking to be able to continue creating value for shareholders.  Stacy Merrifield, executive vice president and chief financial officer, presented the financial results for the prior year and shared that the company achieved record earnings for 2016. Additionally, Merrifield reported strong financial results for the first quarter of 2017. President and CEO Joe Urbanski discussed the current landscape for banking and strategic planning initiatives focused on the continued growth and success of the bank and the communities it serves.

Ryne Krock, president and CEO of the LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation, was the guest speaker at the meeting. He shared information about the Launch LaGrange program, which allows area students (future entrepreneurs) to come up with a business plan to start their own business and present their ideas to local judges for a chance to compete for college scholarships, business grants and other prizes.

Following his presentation, Joe Urbanski presented Krock with a check for $1,000 as a donation to further support the efforts of the Launch LaGrange Program.
