Fairfield pushed across five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to put away a scrappy Westview club, 6-0 in NECC softball tournament quarterfinal play last Thursday night.
Walks to Karen Schwartz and Kaela Miller began the Lady Falcons’ decisive rally. Singles by Alexis Zook, Alex DeWitt, Riley Troyer and Danica Mast drove in the runs.
The Lady Warriors put runners on base in five of seven innings. However, Fairfield catcher Riley Troyer gunned down three would-be Westview base stealers.
Mast went the distance to get the pitching win, striking out seven and walking one. Sam Pfenning took the loss.
Amber Roth had three of the six Lady Warrior hits. Poking one each were Stephanie Mowery, Kayla Yoder and Hannah Witham.
