Fairfield nips Westview in girls tennis play

Singles wins by Emily Mast, Lauren Streit and Margie Stutzman propelled Fairfield past Westview, 3-2 in NECC girls tennis action last Friday night in Emma.

Scoring the Lady Warrior points were the doubles tandems of Katelyn Miller-Chanda Strong and Tessa Zimmerly-Megan Steider. Miller and Strong rallied from a first-set loss to best Leah Wimmer and Brooke Hochstedler, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. Zimmerly and Steider rolled to a 6-3, 6-1 triumph over Janay Miller and Shannon Yoder.

The setback dropped Westview to 4-2 in league play and to 5-3 overall. Fairfield improved to 5-0 in the NECC and to 7-1 overall with the win.

Fairfield also won each of the four junior varsity matches.
