Excessive speed believed cause of one-vehicle accident

A 1998 Oldsmobile driven by Estevan Gallegos, 19, of LaGrange was traveling west on CR 400N when it left the roadway and struck a large rock.

According to the police report, the vehicle then continued west off of the roadway approximately 800 ft. before finally stopping. High speed is believed to be a factor in the accident.

Gallegos received a laceration to his left arm and was cited for speed too fast to avoid collision and a learner’s permit violation.
