Evelyn Mishler

Evelyn Regina Mishler, 89, Shipshewana, died Friday, April 25, 2014 at her residence.

    She was born May 13, 1924, in Shipshewana, to Clarence E. and Audra (Crampton) Miller.

    She was a 1942 graduate of Shipshewana High School and was the bookkeeper for Mishler Packing Company in LaGrange until her retirement. She was a member of the Shore Mennonite Church and did volunteer work with the church and community organizations including the Fresh-Air Program, Red Cross, Self-Help/MCC Boutique and International Student Holiday Hosting.

    She was married September 30, 1945, in Emma, to Paul R. Mishler. He survives.

    Also surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sharon and Edward Schrock, Woodburn, Ore., Judith Mishler, Shipshewana, and Carol and Steve Pieper, Cambridge, Mass.; a daughter-in-law, Lynn Mishler, Kandern, Germany; two grandchildren, Caleb Mishler, Red Rock, Ariz., and Joshua (Maria) Mishler, Kandern, Germany; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kody and Maya Mishler, all of Kandern, Germany; two honorary sons, Rubin Lozano, Joliet, Ill., and Rene Lozano, Chicago, Ill.; three sisters, Kathryn Conrick and Gretchen Loomis, both of Valparaiso, Ind., and Madeline Farrington, Canon City, Colo.; two brothers, Phil Miller, Valparaiso, Ind., and Ernest Miller, San Clemente, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Steven Mishler, and two sisters, Loleta Hostetler and Vera Weimer.

    Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Shore Mennonite Church in Shipshewana.

    Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, at Shore Mennonite Church in Shipshewana with Reverend Carl Horner officiating.

    Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.
