Eva J. Stayner-Thompson, 83, formerly of Rome City, died Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Miller’s Merry Manor of LaGrange.
She was born October 16, 1928, in Steuben County, Ind., to Fred and Eula (Lonsbury) Showalter.
Moving from Steuben County to Rome City in 1989, she was a homemaker and a gardener at Gene Stratton Porter State Park in Rome City.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Frank Evers, Wolcottville, and Gloria and Duane Hartman, Angola; two sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Kathy Stayner, Angola, Ind., and Kevin and Dana Stayner, Kendallville, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Wendell D. Stayner and Donald L. Thompson, her parents, two grandchildren, and one sister, Ava J. Rhoades.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, August 31, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 1, at Flint Cemetery in rural Angola, Ind., with her son Kevin Stayner officiating.
