Eugene Mory

Eugene E. Mory, 88, South Milford, Ind., died Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne, Ind.

    He was born July 26, 1926, in his parents’ home in South Milford, Ind., to John Olin and Thelma (Perkins) Mory. He graduated from Kendallville High School in 1944 and married AnnaLee Mae Houck on January 26, 1945 in at the Church of Christ in South Milford. Gene began working at the family store in 1945, which was then known as Mory & Son, and now J.O. Mory, Inc. and was the current CEO of the business. He received the Ernst Young Lifetime Acheivement award as the Northern Indiana Entrepreneur of ther Year in 1997. Gene earned numerous awards with the company as a Lennox dealer. He was a member of the South Milford Church of Christ in and served as a trustee and deacon as well as cochairing the new building committee in 1980. He and his wife, AnnaLee, started the South Milford Little League from his love of baseball. Gene also managed the South Milford Cemetery for years and he was instrumental in the expansion of the new addition to the cemetery. He was active in Junior Achievement at Prairie Heights school. He was also a recipient of the Mighty Oaks award and was awarded the citizen of the year for LaGrange County in 2011. He served on the many boards including the Parkview LaGrange and Parkview Noble Hospital boards, Leap of Noble County, LaGrange County Community Foundation, Presence Sacred Heart Home, and the Kendallville Economic Development Commission. Gene loved his occupation. It never seemed like work to him as he was well known for helping the elderly and youth of his community. He enjoyed his job and it was never work for him. He was a huge sports fan and the Chicago Cubs and Indiana University basketball were favorite teams.

Daughter, Cheryl and Thomas Nott of South Milford.

Daughter, Monica and Mike Rowe of Wolcottville.

Grandchildren: Tracey Seward of Chicago, Illinois; Kerry

and Angie Nott of Wolcottville; Ryan and Jenny Nott of

South Milford; Stacey and Erika Rowe of Fishers, Indiana;

and Josh and Molly Rowe of Indianapolis.

Great grandchildren: Kaiden, Noah, and Nenah Seward;

Tyler, Logan, Reagan and Kerrianne Nott; Ethan, Caleb,

Aiden, and Landon Nott; Avery and Austin Rowe; and Carter and Maxton Rowe.
Brother, Richard and Diane Mory of Fort Wayne.
Sister, Marietta and Ron Hite of Kendallville.
Sister-in-law, Lois Mory of Kendallville.
He was preceded in death by parents, his brother, Robert Mory in 1989.

Visitationwill be Sunday from 1:00-6:00pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.

A Celebration of Gene’s Lifewill be Monday, December 1, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the South Milford Church of Christ with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Officiatingthe funeral service will be Pastor Brian Walter and Pastor Jim Mertz.

Burial will be at South Milford Cemetery.

Preferred memorials may be made to the South Milford Church of Christ or Parkview Noble Hospice.

Casketbearers will be Kerry and Ryan Nott, Stacey and Josh Rowe, John Mory and Chad Perkins and honorary bearers will be Kaiden and Noah Seward and Tyler Nott.
