Estella “Jean” Knowles, 73, Shipshewana, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Miller’s Merry Manor of LaGrange.
She was born November 29, 1940, in Bremerton, Wash., to Ernest and Hazel (Rider) West.
She was a homemaker and worked for 15 years at Mastercraft in Shipshewana, retiring in 2002. She also worked at Double Eagle in Shipshewana. She was a member of Lima United Methodist Church and the Red Hat Society and was the president of the UMW of Lima United Methodist Church.
She was married June 20, 1959 to Harold "Jim" Knowles. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2008.
Surviving are two sons, Tom Knowles and Joe (Sherri) Knowles, both of Shipshewana; four grandchildren; three sisters, Kathleen "Star" Hedrick, Clark Fork, Idaho, Karen (Herbert) Sellman, Anchorage, Alaska, and Sheila (Dale) Cox, Payette, Idaho; one brother, Gilbert (Olga) West, Frieste, Italy; and an aunt, Roberta Markley, Shipshewana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Allen Lafleur, and one sister, Harriet Dale.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 19, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home in Middlebury.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 20, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home in Middlebury with Denise Heller officiating.
Burial will be in Keightley Cemetery, Shipshewana.
