Escaped Michigan convict still at large

The Michigan man who took a female hostage and drove her into Indiana remains at large Monday.

The man, Michael David Elliot, 40, is described as a 5 ft. 8 inches tall, 165-pound white male with short brown hair, brown eyes and facial hair. At the time of his escape, he was wearing a blue and orange state prison uniform. He had been serving a life sentence after a 1993 conviction for four murders.

However, a female who owned a vehicle Elliot stole and who was forced to go with him from Michigan told authorities that he had put on a pair of her black cargo pants and had put a jacket on. He was last seen at the Gallop’s gas station on SR 13, just north of the Indiana Toll Road. He was driving a red 2004 Jeep Liberty with Michigan plates 5FTG55.

If anyone sees Elliot, call 911 immediately and do not approach. Elliot should be considered armed and dangerous.
