Ervin Lung

Ervin J. Lung, 85, Elkhart, died Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Eastlake Nursing and Rehab.

    He was born March 6, 1930, in LaGrange County, to Hurlis Lung and Mary (Witham) Weldy.

    He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a boxer during his military days. After the war he joined the U.S. Air Force and worked on the Blue Angels aircrafts at Lockheed Air Force Base. He retired May 22, 1992 from McDonald-Douglas in Long Beach, Calif. He was a member of the Bristol American Legion.

    He was married May 13, 1966 to June G. (Sheets) Jones.  She preceded him in death on January 19, 1991. 

    Surviving are his special friend, Doris Knepper, Elkhart; one son, John Lung, Goshen; one stepson, James (Cindy) Shallenbarger, Goshen; two stepdaughters, Canda Quinn and Dorothy (Lee) Miller, both of Goshen; and 10 stepgrandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, two half-brothers, Charles and Larry Lung, and one stepsister, Esther Painter.

    Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Monday, August 10, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home in Goshen.

    Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 10, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home in Goshen.

    Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Wolcottville.

    Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association.
