Entries sought for Mayfest parade

This year’s theme for the Shipshewana Mayfest Parade is “Horsin’ Around in Shipshewana,” providing an opportune time to display horse rigs, carts, carriages and wagons.

Last year, the parade had 75 entries marching in front of thousands of visitors to Shipshewana. The Shipshewana Mayfest would love to have businesses, groups, families, clubs, bicycles, motorcycles, and animals, or anyone who wants to help bring in springtime to Northern Indiana.

Mayfest is only eight weeks away. All interested participants are encouraged to submit their applications soon. Applications can be found at the SRMA Office, by calling 768-7589 or 768-4904. Applications should be returned to the SRMA office, 245 N. Morton St., Shipshewana, IN 46565. Applications may also be e-mailed to

Judging will be in six categories: Best Organizational, Best Historical and Classic Vehicle, Best Children’s, Best Theme, Best Commercial and Best Equestrian. Entries are not restricted the six categories – imagination is welcome.
