Elmer M. Bontreger, 93, Shipshewana, died Monday, June 25, 2012 at his residence.
He was born November 8, 1918, in LaGrange County, to Menno and Susie (Miller) Bontreger.
He was a farmer, carpenter, and member of the Old Order Amish Church.
He was married April 20, 1941 to Edna Ellen Yoder. She preceded him in death on May 23, 1953. He was married March 18, 1954 to Viola Yoder. She preceded him in death on August 31, 1985. He was married May 16, 1987 to Lydia Bontrager. She survives.
Also surviving are five sons, Glen (Polly Anna) Bontreger, Topeka, Eldon Roy (Sheila) Bontreger, Chanhassen, Minn., Perry (Mary Lou) Bontreger and Vernon (Sue) Bontreger, both of LaGrange, and Ora (Christine) Bontreger, Battle Creek, Mich.; seven daughters, Mary (Ez) Ropp, Middlebury, Waneta (Raymond) Yoder, Donna, Texas, Esther Ellen (Phillip) Yoder, Burr Oak, Mich., Edna Mae (Wilbur) Bontrager, Topeka, Freda (Lee) Richardson, Carolyn Bontreger and Ruth (Orla) Bontrager, all of Shipshewana; 45 grandchildren; 127 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Eli Bontreger, three sisters, Molly Miller, Anna Schrock and Fannie Gingerich, and a son-in-law, Elmer Eash.
Visitation is all day Thursday, June 28, at the family residence, 3500N 500W in Shipshewana.
Services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 29, at the family residence, 3500N 500W in Shipshewana, with Bishop Jacob Jones and home ministers officiating.
Burial will be in Naylor Cemetery, Shipshewana.
