Elkhart Christian boys topple Prairie Heights

Elkhart Christian held on to clip Prairie Heights, 54-47 in varsity boys basketball action Tuesday evening in the Panther Pit.

The Eagles broke open what had been a tight contest with a 14-7 run in the third period, staking the visitors to a 36-28 advantage. Elkhart Christian then stayed within a point of the hosts in the final frame to secure its third victory in as many decisions this season.

Kenny Bearss topped the Elkhart Christian scorecard with 17 points, followed by Ryan Kupferschmidt with 15.

Jacob Heller’s 17 points led the Panthers, who fell to 0-4 with the loss. Heller also grabbed eight rebounds.

Ryan Day was next on the Heights point column with 14. Tyler Carbone paced the Panthers on the boards with nine caroms.

Kyler West tallied 10 points in leading the Prairie Heights junior varsity boys basketball team to a 42-22 victory over visiting Elkhart Christian Tuesday night.
