Elkhart Central used its superior height and athleticism to roll past Prairie Heights, 60-32 Tuesday night in historic North Side Gym.
The Blue Blazers, winners in just three of their 14 contests coming into their clash with the Panthers, rocketed to a 24-5 lead by the end of the first quarter on the strength of a trio of three-point baskets by Terell Street. The 5-11 guard would finish with four treys and a team-best 18 markers.
John Stahl’s slam-dunk off an alley-oop pass from Tre Taylor at the end of the first half sent Central to the halftime break with a 34-14 edge. Consecutive triples by Blake Brouwer in the third period helped the hosts build a 56-23 advantage.
Jacob Heller’s 12 points led Prairie Heights, which dipped to 8-9 on the season with the setback.
