A 24-point explosion in the second quarter was enough to propel Eastside past host Prairie Heights, 38-13 in NECC football action last Friday night at Hubert Cline Field.
Touchdown passes of 68 and 18 yards from Blake Blaker to Ty Lockhart highlighted the Blazer surge which earned them a 24-13 halftime lead. Kadis Renier ran 10 yards for another Eastside touchdown and Kyle Franz booted through a 28-yard field goal.
Eastside sealed its victory with scores in each of the final two stanzas. Blaker hit P.J. Dean with a 34-yard touchdown pass early in the third frame, while Renier jaunted to paydirt from 27 yards out late in the fourth quarter.
Bobby Blum had staked the Panthers to a 6-0 lead three minutes into the game with a 12-yard touchdown scamper. Kyler West put Heights up, 14-10 with four minutes to play in the second period when he dove into the end zone from a yard out.
