East Noble Invitational Wrestling Meet

Brian Mullett of Westview and T.J. Thompson of Lakeland each placed second in their weight divisions at Saturday’s East Noble Invitational wrestling meet.

Mullett scored an 18-3 technical fall victory over Hunter Price of Fremont in the first round of the 106-pount bracket, then beat Logan Aldrich of Fort Wayne Northrop, 9-1 in the semifinals. Mullett faced Connor Knapp of East Noble in the finals and fell to the Knight by an 8-0 major decision.

Thompson, wrestling in the 132-pound flight, got his day underway with a pin of Elkhart Central’s Seth Hurley in 5:34. Thompson shaded Courtney Odom of Northrop, 7-4 in the semifinal round.

The Laker then met Tyler Willms of Fremont in the championship bout. Willms edged Thompson, 3-1 to take home the title.

Two other county matmen claimed third-place ribbons in the meet. Luke Long of Lakeland whipped Logan Aldrich of Northrop, 13-5 in the consolation match at 106 pounds, while Trey Kennedy of Westview took third at 145 with an 8-4 decision over Xavier Poindexter of Northrop.

East Noble had six of its individuals win flight championships and rolled to the team crown with 275 points. Warsaw nipped Fremont, 157.5-156 for second place.
