Internal medicine physician Vijay Kamineni, M.D., with Northeast Internal Medicine Associates PC in LaGrange, has started a three-year term as an alternate trustee on the Indiana State Medical Association (ISMA) Board of Trustees. He will help represent the ISMA’s 12th District that includes that includes Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Kosciusko, Lagrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells and Whitley counties.
The ISMA Board of Trustees is composed of representatives from 13 districts in the state and three subsidiary societies. Dr. Kamineni was elected by colleagues in his district to serve the new term that ends in 2016. New ISMA leaders took an oath to serve the organization during proceedings of the ISMA 164th Annual Convention held Sept 20-22 in Indianapolis. The convention allows delegates to not only install new leaders, but also to set an action agenda for the coming year.
Established in 1849, the ISMA has worked to promote sound health care policy in the public, private and governmental sectors and to support continuing medical education for the state’s physicians. Today, the ISMA has approximately 7,900 members from all across Indiana.
