Douglas Yoder

Douglas Eugene Yoder, 71, Middlebury, died Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Ind.

    He was born April 25, 1943, in LaGrange, to Benjamin and Violet (Johnloz) Yoder. 

    He worked in different area factories during of his life, including Coachman in Middlebury and most recently for Gunite in Elkhart. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Army, later served in the National Guard, and was a member of the Bristol American Legion Post 143.  

    He was married November 20, 2004, in Elkhart, Ind., to Choi ThiTran. She survives.

    Also surviving are his children from a previous marriage, one daughter, Shannon (Dave) Hicks, Bristol; one son, Scott (Nancy) Yoder, Prospect, Tenn.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Stella J. Hughes, Sturgis, Mich.; one half-brother, Howard (Loretta) Yoder, Middlebury; five stepsisters, Jean Watson, Shipshewana, Pat Burkhead, Sturgis, Mich., Joyce Gerber, Bronson, Mich., Eleanor Scott, New York, and Margaret Dillon, New York; and one stepbrother, Donald McHugh, Elkhart, Ind.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Barbara A. Yoder, and two brothers, Wayne Yoder and Jake Yoder.

    Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home in Middlebury.

    Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, February 12, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home in Middlebury with Pastor Harold Knight officiating.

    Burial with full military rites will be in Sidener Cemetery, Shipshewana.

    Memorials may be directed to Miller-Stewart Funeral Home in Middlebury to assist the family with expenses.
