Dorothy Eileen Cook, 92, Adams Lake, died Monday, February 17, 2014, at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville.
She was born May 13, 1921, in Portland, to Alonzo W. and Dottie Dell (Votaw) Hall.
Moving from Ft. Wayne, Ind., to this area in 1940, she resided at Lutheran Life Villages for the past five years. She was a secretary at the Wolcottville High School and also worked at Farmers State Bank in Wolcottville, LaGrange, Topeka, and Stroh. She attended the Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church, played violin in the Southside High School Orchestra in Ft. Wayne, where she was a National Honor Society member. And attended International Business College.
She was married October 5, 1940, in LaGrange, to John E. Cook. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2008.
Surviving are one daughter, Jonquil Vincent, Gambrills, Md.; one son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Becky Cook, Adams Lake; a son-in-law, Tom Atkins, Royer Lake; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Miller, Waynedale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Atkins, two sons, John A. Cook and Jerry Cook, and one sister, Rubybell Hall.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday, February 20, and 1:30-2:30 p.m. Friday, February 21, at Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 21, at Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church with Reverend David Matthews officiating.
Burial will be in Woodruff Cemetery.
