Doris M. Menges, 84, LaGrange, died Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Miller’s Merry Manor of LaGrange.
She was born June 14, 1929, in DeKalb County, Ind., to Albert and Olive Beatrice (Wilson) Weicht.
Moving from Auburn to LaGrange in 1959, she was a bookkeeper at Lakeland High School from 1959 until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of LaGrange. She was involved in the UMW of the church and volunteered at the LaGrange County Food and Clothes Basket until 2006 and also at the Red Bird Mission.
She was married August 17, 1947 in DeKalb County, Ind., to William J. Menges. He preceded her in death on December 13, 2003.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Richard Fremion, Wolcottville; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Rita Menges, Goshen, Ind.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Richard Kummer, Waterloo, Ind.; one stepsister, Delores Johnson Feller; and three stepbrothers, Verl and Ellen Johnson of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Leonard Johnson of Waterloo, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Goldie (Nodine Johnson) Weicht, one sister, Carolyn Trubey, and one brother, Richard Weicht.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 24, at the First United Methodist Church in LaGrange with Reverend Chris Danielson and Reverend Denise Heller officiating.
Burial is in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Pleasant Lake, Ind.
